A photographic memory

Katie Ackroyd

We use photographs as powerful tools of evidence for our personal histories and for affirmation of our character and identity.

Photographs are a permanent record, one that we trust implicitly. They are evidence of our being, both as a reminder of our own significance and as a legacy of oneself and ones family. My work explores the relationships between memory and personal photography by creating images and documents of past events from often-dubious recollections where there is no previous visual evidence.
